I was so sick of dreams. The room was dark; the moon had disappeared and the sun hadn’t yet arisen. A secret, lonely hour, which wasn’t night or day or even dawn. The front door closed. Before I even knew what I was doing, I jumped out of bed and pulled on my clothes. Or what was left of them. My tank top was shredded, so I helped myself to one of Adam’s, but my breasts tumbled out the armholes, since he’d shredded my bra while he was at it. What had been incredibly sexy last night was merely an annoyance now. I mumbled curses as I found a T-shirt that might have been white once but was now kind of gray, and tugged it over my head. A quick glance out the window revealed Adam slipping through the shadows and into the tall grass. This was his place. Where was he going? Time to find out. I raced through the house and out the front door. Did I actually believe I’d be able to follow him through the swamp without his knowing I was there? He’d lived here all his life, and while I’d spent a lot of time in some very odd places, I wasn’t exactly the invisible woman. Nevertheless, I had to try. Considering I’d never woken in the daylight with him by my side, no matter what we’d shared in the night, scaring him off wasn’t hard. Why worry about it now? Dawn broke, spilling muted sunshine across the land. There was a chill to the morning, but soon the heat would rise. Ahead tires roared across pavement; a horn tooted. I glanced around, uncertain where I was. Adam climbed an embankment, then crossed a highway I didn’t recognize. On the opposite side lay a trailer park. Frowning, I crept forward, catching sight of him just as he opened the door on one of the mobile homes and disappeared. What the hell? Was this where he spent his days? Not in a coffin or a grave or a lair but a trailer park? I hadn’t seen that coming. I left the cool shadows of the swamp, slipping and sliding up the embankment, then waiting for a semi truck to pass before I scooted across the two-lane highway. Expecting the trailer park to be run-down, kind of shimmy, I was surprised to find neat plots of grass and flowers planted around the bases of most of the mobile homes. Each was well kept, clean, even shiny. Tricycles, Big Wheels, Flintstone cars, resided in nearly every driveway. Where Adam had disappeared, they had one of each. My eyes narrowed. Who lived here? I had a very bad feeling I wasn’t going to like the answer. Tempted to bang on the door, I refrained. Just past six in the morning, I didn’t want to be rude. So I slunk around the side and peeked in the window. I didn’t mind being criminal. Cartoons spilled across the TV screen. A little boy of perhaps four or five stared avidly at the square yellow blob with a face, legs, and hands that appeared to be dancing under the sea. I craned my neck. A young African-American woman stood in the kitchen, pouring cereal into a bowl. Her hair had been left natural, forming a short, tight, attractive Afro around her pretty face. She couldn’t have been more than eighteen, maybe twenty. I returned my attention to the child – dark hair long and shaggy, his skin kissed by the sun. I couldn’t see his eyes. He could be hers. Adam looked up and I ducked so fast, I got dizzy again. I crouched below the window, breathing as shallowly as I dared, listening for the creak of a door, but nothing happened. Someone, if not Adam or the little woman, was going to discover me dallying in the patch of grass beneath their living room window and wonder what kind of psycho they were dealing with. A snort of laughter erupted. He’d been angry when he thought I was married and screwing him. What was his excuse? â€Å"Maybe they aren’t married,† I muttered. Which was no excuse. He’d lied to me somewhere along the line. Although I hadn’t asked if he was involved, nevertheless, wasn’t it good form to mention it? He definitely should have mentioned the child. Of course Adam had made certain I was leaving, made clear he didn’t love me and never would. He probably figured I’d be gone long before it mattered that he had a son and a live-in woman. Maybe she didn’t care if he played around. But I did. A thought niggled at the edge of my mind. If I could just get my brain to function past the sight of that little boy’s smile and the sound of his voice shouting, â€Å"Daddy!† But I couldn’t From the way I was hyperventilating and clutching my chest, you’d think I’d just caught the love of my life in bed with another woman. I cursed, forced myself to my feet, and took a deep breath. I’d head back to the mansion, gather my things, and move in with Cassandra. Chuang Liao (2010) indicated that SHRM contains six discussion zones that involve cost theory, cybernetic models, behavioural practices; resource based firm establishment and power dependency for understanding the strategic HR practice. Management issues Self-Management For the implementation of effective self-management, the self-management protocol provided in the study of Nesbit (2012) was followed which contributes to employee growth and satisfaction. The quality and responsiveness towards work were not always effective because as a fresher trainee there were issues that require experience for resolution. Therefore, the work responsiveness and quality were not always satisfactory. At some places, there were issues like lack of knowledge, support and skills, which was overruled by enhancing skills and knowledge with studies. Further, workplace stress was another issue at times of business season that occurred due to over-time and high work pressure. This workplace stress was also observed in employees and workers at due to high work pressure at The Naked Duck caf. To overcome this stress a Risk management framework give by Wang Tsai (2014) was followed for self-stress management as well as management of employee stress. This framework involved strategies like Counselling, relaxations training, resilience training, therapy, providing support and effectual working culture. In this manner, the workplace stress issue was managed in an effective manner. The things that went well in the self-management process were commitment towards work, honest approaches, effective employee management, providing satisfactory work and managing organisation culture effectively as a functional manager. However, things that went wrong were a lack of confidence over knowledge and lack of experience. People-Management People or Human resources are considered as assets of any business and the management of people is considered as most complicated part of Managers work (Armstrong Taylor, 2014). Similarly, in present training, while working as a manager, the most difficult task was to manage people without any initial experience. In the organization The Naked duke caf, while working as a manager it is noticed that people management strategies were fine enough to get performance but the major issues were the lack of motivation and employee engagement in the decision-making process of organization. Further, the workplace stress due to work pressure was another issue that let to employee turnover. The management was not able to unlock the potential of its employee because the talent of employees was not channelled correctly. While responding to the supervisor as a manager the honest and non-diplomatic approach was adopted to let the management understand the issue in working process. As a manager, it was erudite that for performing people management a complete collaboration of skills, knowledge, patience, sympathy, hard work and attentiveness is essential (Riley, 2014). There was a lack of patience and attentiveness being a manager in the personal analysis that created anger in attitude; even the employees were threatened of the angry attitude. However, it was realised that for being a good manager there is need to get a control over personal anger and lack of attentiveness in attitude. Further, a good manager is the combination of good knowledge and good experience that comes with time and practice (Cantallops Salvi, 2014). Leadership The leadership is the strategy or action or skill of leading people in the organization. At Naked Duke Caf, there was a clear leadership vision to guide and build morale in employees. The employees were managers were always instructed to guide employees in every minor and major aspects of business. The employees were pulled all together to work in a collaborative manner for achieving goals and maintaining the vision of the organization. However, only missing aspects were employee motivation that harnesses the leadership in organization. As a manager, the good characteristics of a manager that makes him/her complete managers are focus, confidence, integrity, inspiration, cooperation, transparency, patients and intelligence. A good leader should adopt both formal and informal leadership. In formal leadership, the role as a leader in the organization is performed for the purpose of making business, whereas informal leadership skill helps to build a relationship with employees at the personal level to understand the employees perspective. A good leader needs to perform health communication and innovation in their leadership (Alvesson Spicer, 2012). Processes The management processes, procedures and policies related to marketing, promotional activities, service delivery and product formation was remarkable. The quality of food at The Naked Duke caf offering an exceptional combination of Asian, French, American and Australian food was unique for this location. People were found highly excited to enjoy the quality and variety of meals. Further, the overall performance management was also up to the mark, except the excess level of work pressure in seasons caused employee turnover. The employee motivation was very low to overcome this work pressure stress. Therefore, to improve the functionality of business it is critically essential to implement effective employee motivation strategies along with processes to provide relaxation in high work pressure, for example- An extended lunch break or higher incentives in the season, appreciation for work etc. (Karatepe Demir, 2014). Conclusion As a Manager at The Naked Duke Caf the experience of handling hospitality management was obtained where human resource management and marketing were key areas of focus. As a manager, I was able to handle employee services, performance and their issues. It was learned how to deal with the complexity of practical management. The human resource and marketing management at this organization is remarkable in its performance and service deliver. But, it was analyzed that employee motivation and engagement was lacking in organisation leadership strategies. There was a miss managed workplace stress at times of overload that leads to huge employee turnover. As a trainee the personal self-management skills were also analyzed in this training program where the lack of patience and attentiveness was identified in attitude. As a manager, there was a lack of capability to handle workplace stress and overload. The leadership skills of management were effective enough to generate workable performance from the employee. Ben Franklin Ben Franklin was the definition of the self-made man. He began his career as a simple apprentice for a printer (his brother) following leaving school at the age of 10, but he and his writings went far beyond the shop where he first started. He spent the early years of his life as a printer, moralist, essayist, scientist, inventor, and a philosopher. He later went on to become a civic leader, statesman, and diplomat. Upon man of those careers he was a strong force in developing the new nation of America. His political views showed him to be a man who loved freedom and self-government. Ben was put in charge of the paper at a young age when his brother was arrested when Benjamin was sixteen for his liberal statements. A year later, he left for England to become a master printer. There he lived among some of the more inspiring writers of London. He was well respected in England, but his love of liberty and his desire to promote the well being of Pennsylvania pushed him toward independence for the colonies. Later in life, Ben Franklin became known as a revolutionist signing the Declaration of Independence at the age of 70 in which he help develop a draft. Most men, even by today's standards would take it easy this far into their lives, but up until he was 80, he was still active in many of Americas business. After signing the Declaration, he continued on as a diplomat, purchasing agent, recruiter, and revolutionist. At the age of 80, he oversaw the dispatch of French armies and Navies to North America to supply America with French munitions. He also supplied loans to the almost bankrupt French Treasury. Through his 80th year, he accepted the presidency of Pennsylvania for three years and later remained active in the promotion for abolishment of slavery. Statistical data are mostly gathered and interpreted to suit political and corporate agendas (Chambliss, 2001; Croall, 1998; Rampton Stauber, 2001; Slapper Tombs, 1999). The criminalization/decriminalization of specific activities/behaviours, for instance, can considerably transform crime trends (Croall, 1998). Male homosexuality, for instance, wasnt decriminalized in Britain until the 1960s (Croall, 1998; Downes Morgan, 1997). Other issues stem from how the data is collected. Surveys conducted by household, for instance, dont include the victimization of homeless people (Kershaw et al., 2000). Furthermore, crimes in which offenders and victims are consenting parties (for example drug dealing) are largely unreported (Kershaw et al., 2000; M aguire, 1997). A lot has been done to refine the collection of crime data. The introduction of victims surveys in the British Crime Survey, for instance, has improved the quality of data collection on crimes that are not recorded by the police (Kershaw et al., 2000; Zedner, 1997). Nevertheless, the reliability of statistics on offending remains questionable. Public myths over the crime problem, combined with corporate interests, drive political activities, which in turn work to mould public perceptions. These are perpetuated by the media who tend to sensationalize street crime, for instance, in order to attract the readership (Chambliss, 2001; Reiner, 1997; Slapper Tombs, 1999). The proceeding lines will provide an account of current statistics and trends, following this line of reasoning. Looking at the shape of crime as it appears from the 2004 BCS summary of trends, it appears that rates of offending have consistently dropped in the past decade (Dodd et al., 2004). More in detail, since 1995 violent crimes have decreased by 36%. Acts of vandalism have decreased by 27%. Vehicle theft, theft from the person, other types of theft and burglary rates appear to have declined, respectively, by 51%, 9%, 36% and 47% (Dodd et al., 2004). Though the validity of these figures, to an extent, cannot be totally dismissed, particularly in sight of their statistical significance, they should be further investigated. Many of these crimes, including vandalism and theft, for instance, are assessed by household (Dodd et al., 2004). Therefore theft offences from homeless people may not appear in these figures. Crimes of violence, on the other hand, are statistically assessed against the overall number of adults in England and Wales (Dodd et al., 2004). In this case, illegal immigrants who do not appear in official registers are not included. The table published by the Home Office also contains a definitional bias. As it was acknowledged by the authors themselves: The BCS common assault definition includes minor injuries. From 2002/03 the recorded crime definition does not include minor injuries  (Dodd et al., 2004). This means that figures related to common assault included a larger variety of violent episodes in the years prior to 2002. This can account for the 43% drop in common assault since 1995 (Dodd et al., 2004).The monitoring of other types of offending, such as cybercrime, has been introduced by external agencies (Power, 2000), though the Home Office themselves have addressed the problem in current publications (Morris, 2004). Cybercrime refers to a variety of offensive activities, to include theft of proprietary information [ ¦], financial fraud [ ¦] [and the] creation and distribution of computer viruses  (Power, 2000: 4). According to the Computer Emergency Response Team (2000), there was a considerable increase in the reporting of internet alerts between 1988 and 1999. It should be noted that this could be largely due to the limited access and technological tools available in the 1980s, compared to the 1990s. Internet alerts, however, fell by the year 2000 (Power, 2000), maybe due to more advanced preventative measures. Financial fraud can currently be denounced as a type of cybercrime, in that it often employs a network of internet transactions, involving large amounts of money and large scale victimization, internationally and over long periods of time (Levi, 1987; Rampton Stauber, 2001; Slapper Tombs, 1999). Corporate and internet offending tend to be largely undetected due to their complex nature (Levi, 1987; Rampton Stauber, 2001; Slapper Tombs, 1999). Because of this, corresponding data tends to be scattered between a variety of agencies (Power, 2000; Slapper Tombs, 1999). Although euthanasia is a complex and controversial subject, under certain conditions people should have the right to decide to end their own lives. Is euthanasia murder or mercy? We need to understand what Mercy, Murder and Euthanasia are before we can form any opinion. (Oxford dictionary) Mercy / (say mersee) Compassionate or kindly forbearance shown towards: an offender, an enemy, or other person in one's power; compassion, pity, or benevolence. Murder / (say merduh) Unlawful killing of a human being by an act done: with intention to kill or to inflict grievous bodily harm. To kill or slaughter, inhumanly or barbarously. Euthanasia is such a controversial word that it creates many discussions and even arguments. This has gone on since well before the first legal case of euthanasia had even happened and will continue for a long time to come. The Oxford dictionary defines Euthanasia as (1) Painless, peaceful death (2) The deliberate putting to death painlessly of a person suffering from an incurable disease: also called mercy killing. That seems simple enough as it is worded but there are different degrees of Euthanasia these are: Passive (voluntary/non-voluntary) Euthanasia- This is where life sustaining treatment is either withheld or withdrawn, in order to bring about a quick and/or painless end or because continuing treatment may be unduly burdensome and/or medically futile. Double Effect: This term is used to deny responsibility of an unforeseen death when medication is used to control pain and suffering but where the quantity of medication is the actual cause of death. Medical/Physician Assisted Suicide: This is where a Doctor provides medication to a patient under their supervision to hasten his or her d... ...st be drawn to decide what Euthanasia is and what is not. Is it Mercy or Murder? These groups don’t seem to know, can you make that decision? The right to life organisations believe in the right to live and therefore will always see euthanasia as a killing. The many people who chose relief from the any illnesses will always look at euthanasia as a peaceful end to their suffering live. The Australian laws continue at this time to see euthanasia as a murder thus making it a crime and these crimes are punishable in the courts the same way as any other murder. The euthanasia debate will continue for many years to come. Euthanasia touches some of the deepest feelings in human beings. It is the power over life and death, and responsibilities no one wishes to take or have to be taken. This of course leads to the natural ultimatum, that it is the patient's own choice.
